4 weeks done and dusted already.....

Wow! What a busy but fab 4 weeks as a student nurse! :) The days are flying by, but I am actually enjoying being so busy :) Its so exciting...and every day feels like I'm one step closer to achieveing my goal! :)
Since my last post, I have completed all the mandatory training I need to do to recieve my Fitness to Practice card! Yey!! :) Really enjoyed Hospital Life Support (HLS)...was actually good fun...our Uni have a brilliant teaching method...relaxed and fun yet informative :) Manual Handling was a little heavier...however it was so satisfying to have the competancies signed off! :)
This weekend is going to be busy as I have put aside some time to really crack on with the essay I have to hand in soon....Hubby and the kids are off to the cinema while I shut myself away and get myself back into the academic writing zone...I'm sure it'll be fine once I get stuck in...I loved it at college! :)

First session in the Clinical Skills Lab today...and I loved every minute :)
We had a look at and a go at Waste disposal...PPE...Hand-washing and Urine analysis...very informative and felt great to finally be doing some hands on practice :) 6 hours practice down...2294 to go! Lol! :)
My nerves are starting to subside a little now, although I'm sure they will re-appear leading up to placement time...only 5 weeks till we are let loose on the ward! yey!! :) :)

Two weeks in...

Well, this is the first opportunity I've had since my first day at Uni to update my Blog!
Things are slowly falling into place...nearly had a meltdown trying to make sense of all the timetables...finally got it all together and diary organised! :)
I'm now feeling more settled and ready to get stuck into the first assignment for 'The Human Body and Mind' module....I need to brush up on my Cells knowledge! :) We also have to do a small group presentation in a few weeks, which I am nervous about but at the same time I'm excited to try and over-come my fear of public speaking :)
Hubby and kids are adjusting well, and we haven't had any major problems at home just yet...everyone is being fed, watered and getting to work/school/college/uni on time! :)

1st Day...

Day one has been amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Have been given lots of information which I will read over in bed tonight :)
So pleased with the group I am in...I'm with my lovely friend from college and also quite a few of the peeps from our Facebook page...perfect!
Cant wait to do it all again tomorrow....only this time we need to make our own packed lunch as today Uni provided a gorgeous buffet for us all...fabulous! :):)

5 more Sleeps...

That's all...5 more little sleeps before my birthday..and my 1st day at uni! I can not wait!! :)
Yesterday a few of us 'student nurses' met up for coffee's and a chat...everyone seems really nice. I think this pre-uni ice-breaker has definitly helped with the nerves..there will be plenty of familiar faces on Monday morning now! :)
Have started to fill in our family wall planner in an attempt to be organised next week...hubby and the kids are all aware that things are going to change but know its for the benefit of us all! :) I have every faith that they will just get on with whatever they need to do...its certainly going to be an adventure for us all! :)

It's all coming together....

So...things are beginning to feel like they are coming together...have received a welcome pack from uni...the induction timetable was included....all a bit mind boggling and exciting at the same time :) Still no password to enable me to enrol online though :-/
Meeting up with some others who will also be at Brooke's ('met' on Facebook) on Wednesday night for a drink...should deal with some of the first day nerves...everything is easier when there are a few familiar faces about :)
Had to call Bursaries as they are asking for evidence of taxable benefits which I don't receive!! Nightmare!! Hopefully award will be sorted soon :)
Had a good chat with my hubby today and he made me realise how far I've come already on this journey....I'm so lucky to have him by my side for support :) Love him! :)
Also, spent a few hours with my sister and little nephew today, which was lovely. My sister is a school nurse and she did her diploma 12 years ago so she always has wise words for me :) My little sister doesn't realise just how much of an inspiration she has been to me....am so very proud of her :)

3 weeks to go....

My bag is all packed and ready. Still waiting for my bursary to be awarded and eagerly waiting for the postman to deliver a welcome pack from uni...oh and on Friday I should receive an email from uni which will tell me the password I need to enrol online! I'm looking forward to everything getting sorted and organised....for the time being! :)
In the mean time, I'm enjoying spending this last couple of weeks with the children before they are back at school and college...even though my eldest son spends every waking minute with his girlfriend...my daughter is on holiday with my brother until Friday and my youngest son is making the most of being able to stay in bed watching tv! :)
Happy Bank Holiday everyone! :)

Brain turning to mush.....

I feel as though since finishing college my brain is not switched on as well as it should be! I think I may need to do some pre-uni reading...and I think I will give Martina Cole a break and have a read through some of my Anatomy and Physiology books! Also, I think I need to do some Maths revision...maybe GCSE bitesize will be the best place to start as I'm a bit rusty! Oh God...nerves are setting in!

The beginning....

Finally starting my blog....not sure where I will go with this but I love being able to look back and reflect on times in my life and right now there are exciting times ahead!
Well, I'm 35 (nearly!) and I'm married to the most supportive and lovely husband and have 3 children whom I am so proud of. My son has just passed all his GCSE's and is off to college in September to study Computing and Electronics, my daughter is 13 and going into year 9 and my youngest son is 10 and going into the last year of primary school. I feel very lucky and blessed in life :)
Last year I started an Access course at college which I completed gaining all Merits and Distinctions so now I'm off to uni to study Adult Nursing and I cannot wait to get stuck in!
I know at times life is going to get tough but as a family we will get through it...we are just going to embrace the chaos!! :)
